About me

Welcome to 18petals - Child Behavior, Psychology and Parenting with Kiran Tevtiya

Hi,

I am Kiran Tevtiya. I wear many hats.

A parent, a child behavioral psychologist, a lifelong learner and founder of 18petals – A Child Behavioral and Developmental initiative to provide comprehensive end to end behavioral healthcare.

I started my professional life tinkering with the brains of the computers as a software engineer. Later while I was pursuing studies in Human Psychology and Developmental life cycle , I was intrigued by how beautifully the two fields  correlate. The magic of the thoughts (codes) that turn into feelings (programming) and thereby lead to actions (apps). No wonder today with AI, software and psychology have become faces of the same coin.

When I on-boarded parenthood, I became very inquisitive and curious to learn about children right from prenatal stage. I spent hours scouring books and articles on various aspects of child development. I was fascinated by how the early childhood development, and experiences through adolescence bring in a cumulative effect later on potential outcomes in the fields of social, emotional, relationship and often career.

Each child that I crossed became an object of intrigue for me. It would make me wonder what might have caught the child’s attention. I would marvel at how the unsaid thoughts and intelligence of the child was at play while exhibiting a particular behavior.

I decided to transition from working with software to children. I opened an Early child care and Parenting center (rattlenbounce in Mumbai) and partnered with preschools (Tinytot, Wonderkids) to run mother toddler and happy hours programs. With a dozen of toddlers and preschoolers around it was such a wonderful experience. I also enrolled for courses in Counseling Psychology, Parenting and Developmental Psychology.

After a few years, I joined Gundecha Education Academy school (Mumbai) as an intern and a shadow teacher, studying behavior of children across primary and secondary sections. I got an hands-on opportunity to develop my insights around– How the intelligence, motivation and interpersonal aspects of children work “away from the eyes of the parents” in a peer group setting.

Equipped with both formal learning and hands-on experience I now practice as a Child Psychologist at therapy centers and pediatric clinics supporting children and families through behavioral and developmental concerns.

I am driven by the belief that Childhood is the foundation for a wholesome life ahead. If children are socio-emotionally and behaviorally well-developed then they would be more capable to achieve their best potential and become mature and well-adjusted individuals in adulthood.

And I continue my journey and work in this field past thousands of consultations this far. Each family adding more insights for my work. Thanks for being with me this far. If you are a parent reading this, I would love to know you more too :). Do drop by to send a Hi on care@18petals.com. We are all in it together!!

Cheers!!
